Crocodiles are the largest reptiles in the world and the closest living relatives of birds, with whom they share a lineage from the archosaurs. The saltwater crocodile is the most dangerous of all crocodiles. It holds the record for the largest crocodile: It can weigh up to a ton, as much as a small car. While most crocodiles live in rivers and lakes, the saltwater crocodile is the only one that can deal with both fresh water and saltwater of the seas. In addition to the saltwater crocodile, there are many other kinds, a total of 25. These include, for example, the Nile crocodile, the armoured crocodile, alligators and caimans.

Fun fact: The saltwater crocodile is the world’s largest crocodile.

Schleich products are made of various plastics and dyes, which are carefully selected to meet the respective requirements. Most typically plastics used are polyvinyl chloride (PVC), thermoplastic elastomers (TPE) and acrylonitrile butadiene styrene (ABS), in addition to other plastics typical for toys. Even the material suppliers are subject to strict controls by our quality officers. The dyes used are optimally adapted to the different types of plastic and demonstrate top-rate mechanical and chemical resistance. They ensure the high durability of Schleich products and make all Schleich pieces saliva and sweat proof as well as abrasion-resistant, and thus ensure that they are completely safe for playing with. Only once a product meets fully all international laws, standards and guidelines for toys is it released for production. All Schleich articles and materials comply with the national and international toy requirements applicable worldwide, as well as the new European Toy Safety Directive 2009/48/EC and DIN EN 71.
